Social Distancing Distraction: Repurposing Fashion; Wardrobe Repeats Please!

Hey Loves! So I’ve got a confession to make… I am an outfit repeater! Yup, I said it and own it proudly lol. In a society of “one and done” media looks it can be easy to disregard an outfit once it’s been “gramed” (you know posted on social media like Instagram and what not). Well, I’m not the type to throw something away just because I’ve worn it once – I’ve become a pro at restyling and changing up the looks of garments – so today, I wanted to to share some of my tricks with you all!

I’ll show you how to take this dress and make it into…
This!

My process: once I’ve worn something at least three times I’m ready to change it up – style wise or completely altering a garment. As someone who doesn’t gravitate towards white I decided to alter this baby!

First up is fabric dye – I like using RIT Dye Easy to use, easy directions and step by step instructions, and I always get the color I’m looking for.

Once you’ve got it all dyed you can leave it as is, like the image below…

Still a gorgeous dress, now in a sunny yellow, and I loved shooting it this way buuuuut I wanted to take it another step further and turned this dress in to a crop top with matching skirt and it turned out beautifully!

So to achieve this two piece look I grabbed my fabric scissors and cut straight through the seam that connected the bodice of the dress to the skirt. I had to be extra careful when cutting due to the liner, once cut I pinned my hem on the top and the skirt, then hand sewed the new hems with the liner on the top and the skirt and voila!! A gorgeous new set to romp around in.

Until next time Loves! As always thank you for the support and please feel free to leave a comment on what other content you’d like to see while we’re practicing social distance!
